We are an independent Hebrew school located in the beating heart of Tel-Aviv.
We offer small groups of all levels, for tourists, students and every person who wants to learn Hebrew.
“Bayit” means Home
Ulpan Bayit is located in a spacious loft in the heart of Tel-Aviv, between Florentin, Rotchild and the Levinsky market. Ulpan Bayit is a home for all – our students are from all over the world, either as tourists, foreign students or new immigrants.

All of our classes are small and cozy. Students sit around one table, in a lesson which is more of a continuous dialogue between the teacher and the students. Most of the elements inside the Ulpan are labelled with the name in Hebrew – a nice idea to try at home!

To ensure the best learning experience we hand picked the best Hebrew teachers. All of our teachers are certified Hebrew as a Foreign Language teachers by the Hebrew university in Jerusalem. We have tons of experience in teaching Hebrew. In order to improve some more, the entire team is constantly learning a new language together – so that we’ll always feel like students ourselves. ירוןYaron is our fearless leader, founder and manager of Ulpan Bayit! He started the ulpan 7 years ago and is our source for education theory and methods, linguistics and all things sci-fi. He also translated Michael Pollan's book How to Change Your Mind from English to Hebrew!Yaron -
פלגPelleg is a dedicated teacher, our pedagogical manager, coordinator of the Gimmel+/++ levels, and head of the teachers training team. She a linguist and a speech therapist and as a hobbyist singer, she'll help you nail that Mediterranean singing style.Pelleg -
אילןIlan is one of the many former Jerusalemites in Ulpan Bayit, and is the Ulpan's general manager. He is also a documentary film director and the most tattooed staff member in the office.Ilan -
נעמיNaomi is our beginner level magician, as she turns every course she teaches into a joyous and supportive home. She's experienced in teaching students of challenging backgrounds and refugees. She's also an enthusiastic tour guide for Israeli culture and Tel Aviv urbanism, a fluent french speaker and a talented poet.Naomi -
עדיאלAdiel is a beloved and versatile teacher, our Bet+/++ and Gimmel levels coordinator, and part of the teachers training team. He's a wizard in creating in-class discussions out of thin air, even among the shyest of students. At night he plays drums for some of Tel Aviv's most interesting Indie Rock bands.Adiel -

The Levels
We divide our students into six levels (A1 – C2) following the European standard. It takes two to three courses to complete a level.

A1.2 (Aleph+): Expansion of the skills acquired in Aleph – adding the infinitive and learning all verb categories in the present tense. In addition we learn the basics of the past tense and start reading more complex texts. Learn more
A1.3 (Aleph++): We continue with the past tense in all verb categories, add more advanced sentence structures, modals verbs and learn how to conjugate prepositions correctly. Learn more
A2.1 (Bet): Learning the future tense, expanding the knowledge on prepositions, learning the gerund and adding complex sentence connectors – causal, time, consequential. Learn more
A2.2 (Bet+): Introduction to passive sentences, reading more complex texts and learning noun conjugation, nominal verb forms and conditional sentences. By the end of this levels the students are familiar with most of the structures of the language, and can advance to the Intermediate level. Learn more
B1.1 (Gimmel): Gimmel is for people who know the language, but are having hard time expressing themselves. The mission in this level is to become a real Hebrew speaker: accurately express yourself, take part in conversations, extract the main idea from texts and have the confidence to communicate in Hebrew. B1.2 (Gimmel+): Gimmel+ is for people who know how to speak, but need to make their communication more accurate and at a higher register. The mission is to be able to accurately express your dreams and opinions, take part in complex conversations, extract the main idea from a journalistic text and start reading the paper, and have the confidence to work in a Hebrew-requiring environment.
